Top Rock is an innovative form of indoor climbing that’s both fun and thrilling in equal measure. Each centre that offers it boasts a number of different routes, each of which varies in difficulty, making it ideal for novices and experienced climbers alike. This is all packed into an environment that’s full of colour, exciting shapes and new experiences.
Ideal for climbers of all levels, Top Rock can be enjoyed by families, as a birthday party activity, or as a way to stay active; solo or with friends and family.
Top Rock’s Auto-Belay System
Top Rock’s auto-belay system eliminates the need for a belayer, making it a great option for those who want to climb independently. Once you reach the top or decide to stop, simply lean back and the system will lower you safely to the ground.
Not only is this just as safe as a traditional belay system, it also means more people can be climbing at any one time, meaning there’s more climbing for more people, more often!
The Benefits
As well as all the enjoyment and excitement you’ll experience while giving Top Rock a go, there are a number of other reasons why you should try it.
To begin with, it’s really easy. Just clip yourself into the auto-belay system and you’re away! Climbing is also a great workout for your whole body, helping to build strength and cardiovascular fitness too.
Who can enjoy Top Rock?
Top Rock is open to just about everyone. As long as you’re aged four or over and weigh 150kg or less, then you’re free to enjoy the challenge. You’ll need to be aware, however, that any climbers aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult.
In terms of clothing, you’ll need to wear loose, comfortable clothing, with comfy, closed-toe shoes with plenty of grip. Trainers would be ideal. If you’ve got long hair, then please tie it back. Furthermore, head scarves will need to be secured and no jewellery can be worn while you’re climbing, unfortunately.
