Across our business, Everyone Active offers a huge range of employment opportunities in centres, at a regional level and centrally, at our Everyone Support Hub. This means that whether you want to teach people how to swim, help people get fitter in the gym, keep people safe, or work in sales, marketing, PR and other office-based activities, there’s something here for you.
Apprenticeships
To help get you started on your career, we also offer a number of apprentice opportunities that give young people the chance to earn money while they learn a trade that will keep them in employment for the rest of their careers.
Again, these vary from centre to centre, region to region, but the choice available with Everyone Active is wide indeed. You can choose from (among others) a Personal Trainer apprenticeship, a Membership Advisor apprenticeship – which will kick start your career in sales – a life guarding apprenticeship, a Fitness Instructor apprenticeship and there are even places available within the marketing team.
All these apprenticeships allow you to work towards a relevant qualification at a further education college, alongside earning a wage and working alongside colleagues and learning on the job, too. Most of our apprenticeships run for between 12 and 15 months, depending on the level of qualification you’ll achieve at the end of the programme.
What happens next?
Once you’ve completed your apprenticeship, then you’ll stand in good stead to continue with your employment with the company as a full member of staff. You’ll be earning significantly more than you were during your apprenticeship and taking significant steps along a career path with great progression prospects.
Examples of just how far apprentices can progress within the company include former competitive swimmer Yasmin Boff, who decided to give up a life in the pool as a 16-year-old to concentrate on her studies, but after a year of studying, she decided the leisure industry was for her.
Using her already impressive swimming skills, Yasmin embarked on a lifeguarding and swim-teaching apprenticeship with Everyone Active at our Stratford Leisure Centre. In just eight months, she’s already achieved her level 1 and 2 teaching qualification, as well as her national lifeguard qualification.
Yasmin told us: “I feel extremely enthusiastic about teaching others how to swim as it is not only a great way to improve your health and wellbeing, it is also a life-saving skill.” “Everyone Active have been recently supportive throughout my apprenticeship and colleagues are always on hand to offer advice.” Yasmin said. “I have been given the opportunity to work alongside the swim manager and really enjoyed it. I hope to continue to further my expertise and become a swim manager once I have completed my apprenticeship.”
