We all know that working out is important to ensuring a healthy way of life, but it’s important not to overdo certain aspects and ensure you enjoy a healthy exercise regime that’s well-rounded to ensure you get the most benefit from your routine.
It’s recommended that adults should do at least 150-300 minutes of moderate intensity exercise, or 75-150 minutes of vigorous intensity aerobic exercise a week, or a combination of both, ideally spread throughout the week.
By going beyond 300 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity a week, you’ll really start to see the benefits of a healthy exercise regime in your fitness and your overall health.
Also important for an adult’s healthy exercise regime are muscle strengthening activities that involve all the major muscle groups for two days or more each week.
There are two key areas that you need to work on for a healthy exercise regime – aerobic work outs and strength training. Keep reading to discover more
Aerobic Exercise
Aerobic exercise helps boost a wide variety of different aspects of your health, which include helping to improve your heart, lung and circulatory function, while it’ll also boost your mental health and help you sleep better.
Alongside these effects, including aerobic workouts in your healthy exercise regime will help you control your weight, as well as reduce your risk of contracting certain conditions, including high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
Healthy Exercise Options
You’ve got loads of options when it comes to healthy aerobic exercise. It’s important that you try new things all the time to ensure you find the exercises that work for you, keep you engaged and, most importantly, that you enjoy.
Different types of aerobic exercise may suit you more than others. For example, if you feel like you need some extra motivation and guidance, then try a group fitness class, whereas if you enjoy exercising on your own, then give swimming a go.
Meanwhile, if you enjoy the great outdoors, then you can try walking, running or cycling, while badminton, tennis, football and squash (among others) are fantastic for those of you who like to add in a bit of competition to their workout.
Healthy Exercise Gym Equipment
Naturally, all Everyone Active gyms are packed with the latest aerobic equipment to help you with your workout. This includes treadmills, exercise bikes, rowers and cross trainers all of which are ideally suited to help ensure you enjoy a healthy exercise regime.
Strength Training
Strength training isn’t just about building muscle and aiming to look like a body builder in fact, bulking up and body building is really hard work, so don’t think that introducing general strength training will result in that.
The Benefits of Strength Training
Strength training has wide-reaching benefits and should be part of everyone’s healthy exercise regime. Not only does it improve your strength, stability and muscle tone, but it also helps control your weight, boost bone mineral density and improve your physical functions among many other things that are absolutely vital to a healthy lifestyle.
