The Alex Danson Hockey Academy

Alex Danson Hockey

Everyone Active has teamed up with Olympic gold medallist, Alex Danson, to introduce an innovative new hockey programme to young people across the country.

The Alex Danson Hockey Academy was formed after both parties recognised the lack of high-standard hockey provision available for primary school pupils.

Currently, less than 50% of primary schools deliver any form of hockey provision. Through the Academy, Everyone Active and Alex Danson want to change this and ensure more young people are given the opportunity to take part in the sport. They want to help improve the health and wellbeing of young people through participation in physical activity, and develop skills that can benefit them throughout their lives.

The Alex Danson Hockey Academy aims to engage 10,000 children aged 7 – 11 with hockey over the next three years by introducing sessions into 500 primary schools and hosting 100 hockey camps in Everyone Active centres.

It will increase the quality of sports opportunities available to primary school children, with the aim of creating a life-long passion for hockey from an early age.

“I am delighted to have teamed up with Everyone Active to ensure that more young people are given the opportunity to enjoy hockey. It is so important that children are engaged in team sport from a young age, and develop skills that can be used to benefit them throughout their lives. The Alex Danson Hockey Academy will give children the chance to get active in a fun and friendly environment, as well as upskill teachers to keep children engaged by delivering top-class hockey sessions.”
